Connecting with the Artist

Mentorship Program: Our highly anticipated mentorship program is now in full swing, and we are thrilled to report that it has already begun to make a significant impact. Designed to support both early-stage and established artists, this six-session program offers a tailored, one-on-one experience that is focused on helping participants navigate their unique creative journeys. The program's flexible structure allows for customized guidance, addressing each artist's individual needs, from career development and creative refinement to practical advice on marketing, exhibitions, and networking.

We are pleased to share that several talented mentees have already joined the program, each bringing their own unique artistic vision and ambition. These artists are currently working closely with their assigned mentors, benefiting from invaluable insights and personalized support. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with mentees expressing how this program is helping them gain a clearer sense of direction, unlock new creative possibilities, and overcome personal and professional challenges.

In the coming months, we will be featuring a select group of mentees who have demonstrated exceptional growth and creativity throughout their mentorship. These artists will be showcased across our platforms, offering them an opportunity to share their work with a broader audience. This exposure will not only highlight their development but also inspire others in the community to pursue their own artistic ambitions.

As we continue to roll out this program, our goal is to provide a supportive, enriching environment where artists feel empowered to push their boundaries, refine their skills, and achieve their creative goals. We are deeply committed to the success of each artist in our program and look forward to watching them thrive as they continue to grow with the guidance of our mentors.

About the mentorship scheme

I applied for the mentorship scheme as it offered an opportunity to make new connections and to learn from more experienced artists. I find the mentors’ practical advice invaluable, such as on how to ensure clarity in communicating about my art practice, and it is helping me develop as an artist working at a professional level. In terms of next steps, I look forward to applying for and participating in more group shows and I have my first solo exhibition planned for the beginning of 2025. It will be very useful to be able to draw on my mentors’ experience as I prepare for the show.

A bit about my art practice

I am primarily a sculptor, but I work with materials not traditionally associated with sculpture and my work is generally not intended to last for a long time.  I am interested in our present condition and how we experience time today. We seem to live with a constant feeling of urgency. A focus on productivity with constant multi-tasking makes it difficult to experience duration, making our lives feel fleeting.

My most recent work involves repetitive actions carried out over prolonged periods of time. These time-consuming ways of working to make sculptures that are not intended to last are an attempt to ‘waste’ time on purpose.  Choosing to ‘waste’ time on purpose is an attempt to reclaim and alter the experience of time.
